Shake Hands with a Hero

[sponsored content & disclaimer]
Thank you to Procter & Gamble, Kroger and the USO for sponsoring this blog post and the Shake Hands With A Hero initiative. Please click here to learn more about this program. I was selected for this sponsorship by the Clever Girls Collective, which endorses Blog With Integrity, as I do.

I have only briefly mentioned on this blog that my husband is in the military. He has been serving in the United States Navy for over 7 years now. Being a member of the Navy has required him to go on two 6-month deployments and multiple underway times so far. My oldest daughter was born just one month after my husband left for his first deployment so she didn't meet him until she was 5 months old!
While it was hard for me to go through this time without him, I can only imagine how hard it was on his end of the deal. All he had were pictures of her for the first 5 months of her life while I got to see her everyday! All she had was his picture too....
{That is seriously the only use that I have found for the massive photo that came in his boot camp photo package...ha!}

I hope that my husband realizes how much we appreciate the sacrifices that he has had to make during his time in the Navy. We live in an area that has a large population of military service members, so we have lots of friends...and family members...that are also serving. I have seen some of the sacrifices that the military members (and their families) have had to make. I also realize that many times they feel unappreciated for all that they do.

The USO (United Service Organizations) is celebrating its 70th year supporting the morale, welfare, social and entertainment needs of troops and their families. They provide an extensive range of programs at more than 160 locations in 27 states and 14 countries, and at hundreds of entertainment events each year.  Thousands of USO volunteers do everything possible to provide a home away from home for our troops and to keep them connected to the families they left behind.

Kroger (and its family of stores) has teamed up with P&G to support the USO and to donate $250,000 to the organization! Wow!

Through this partnership, you will be able to virtually "shake hands with a hero"--the proper custom to show your gratitude to US soldiers in uniform to thank them for their service to our country.

The first 50,000 to participate and show their support to our troops will receive a coupon loaded to their Kroger Plus card for $1 off a P&G product!

Click the button above to participate. You will need to enter your name and location, choose the military branch that you would like to thank, and choose the service member from the list that you would like to "shake hands" with. If you are one of the first 50,000, you will then be prompted to log in to your Kroger account to add the coupon to your card.

Take a quick moment today to participate in this program...and to personally thank the military service members in your life! I guarantee you that they will welcome the appreciation!
