Sorry, but I am not willing to pay $50 for a dog food container!!
This is what our dog food currently is stored in….very boring Sterilite containers:
I have been keeping a look out for a tin that would work, but it was harder than I thought it would be. Lowe’s and Home Depot both had 6 gallon tin buckets, but they were too wide for the cabinet that this would go in. I did like the $15 price tag though!
I found a couple of popcorn tins at a local thrift store (with Christmas designs on them that I could easily spray paint over), but they didn’t have a handle on the side or the lid. My girls, ages 5 and 2) are responsible for feeding the dog most of the time. I needed to make sure that the container had an easily removable lid for my 2 year old in order to avoid a mess every time she feeds the dog! I decided to keep the popcorn tins as a backup plan in case I couldn’t find anything else!
We made a trip up to Northern Virginia this weekend for a birthday party and made a quick trip to IKEA (and the Container Store…woohoo!!). I was so excited when I came across this cream colored 4 gallon tin bucket for $15!!
Perfect!! So…I pulled out my Cricut and some black vinyl that I ordered from Expressions Vinyl and got to work!
I added a couple little paw prints too…just for fun!
I love how this turned out! I’m kind of sad that they are going to be hidden in a cabinet most of the time. We are in the middle of a *long* kitchen remodeling process. Eventually this will be in a cabinet with a pull out drawer. Hopefully I will be able to post a picture of the finished cabinet and drawer soon!
